November 8 Friday – Clinton B. Fisk wrote from NYC to ask Sam when he might “confer… regarding a matter of theatrical literary return that may prove mutually to our profit” [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Answd. Nov. 11, ‘07”

Thomas Commerford Martin for the Engineer’s Club wrote to invite Sam to the inaugural banquet of the opening of their new club house, at which Andrew Carnegie would be guest of honor. They were limiting speakers to two or three—and hoped he might “help us voice our sentiments” [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Answd. Nov. 11 1907”

Edward T. Devine for Charities and the Commons, a weekly journal, wrote: “May we have your signature to the enclosed letter [not in file] to be sent to department stores, newspaper editors and executives of women’s clubs in all parts of the country?” [MTP].

Polly Porter sent a cartoon postcard from Oxford picturing “The High, during Pageant Week” with a queen and a nun riding bicycles. Porter wrote: “Here is your vision! Your letter was deeply appreciated / Polly Porter” [MTP].
