Dr. Edward C. Rushmore attended to Sam; his bronchitis had worsened the day before upon reaching Tuxedo Park.  

In Tuxedo Park, N.Y., Isabel V. Lyon wrote for Sam to Charles M. Fairbanks and Pauline M. Fairbanks in Brooklyn. Sam was home now and was “overwhelmed with mail,” and asked Isabel to write thanks for their message of welcome home [MTP].

Isabel Lyon’s journal: “We take Miss Herrick to drive now. The King likes the ‘protection’ of it” [MTP 87].

George B. Harvey wrote to Sam: “I have just returned from a fishing trip that I made with Mr. Archbold…. I was very sorry not to be able to get back in time to meet you at the steamer, but I am very anxious to see you. Could you put me up for a night or so if I can go up, say about Tuesday of next week? Oone H. Ball wrote from Oxford to Sam: “I am venturing to send to you, by this post, a little book called ‘Barbara Goes to Oxford.’ I had he great pleasure of meeting you when you came to our party in St. John’s Gardens after the Encoenia” [MTP].
