September 18 Wednesday – Sam was in Fairhaven, Mass. visiting the Rogers family.

Isabel Lyon’s journal: “T replied to the poem” [MTP TS 106].

Helen M. De Muth wrote from Crofton, Pa to Sam, sending him a photo of her (which also included Dorothy Quick) taken on the Minnetonka, [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Answd. Sept. 18, ‘07”

Robert W. Vonnoh wrote from NYC to interest Sam in the cooperative owning of a NYC building. He enclosed a letter from Howells, which was returned [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Mr Clemens thanks you for your letter & wishes he were able to make plans for a city home etc. Presently will return Mr. Howells’s letter”
