H.C. Fish for N. Dakota State Historical Soc. wrote from Bismark, N.D. to ask if under date of May 26, 1874 Clemens had checked into the Capitol House in Bismark [MTP]. Note: IVL: “Mr. Clemens was not West at all in 1874.”

Howells & Stokes wrote to bill Sam another $4,000 in favor of William Webb Sunderland, contractor, and to note that the J.B. Colt Co. was owed $513.63 for installation of the gas lighting plant. Total cost of the house, $38,000 [MTP].
