December 14 Monday – William Ireland Starr, photographer from West Redding, Conn. came and took photographs of Stormfield and it’s occupants, including one of Ralph W. Ashcroft (standing in window) and Clemens (seated in window) looking out at Isabel Lyon (standing outside the window); also one of Sam in his Oxford gown, seated with cigar in mouth [MT Journal Spring/Fall 2006 p.19].

New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad per A.B. Smith replied to Sam’s Dec. 12 letter: they were pleased to announce that beginning Dec. 21, the #240 leaving NY at 3:32 p.m. “would stop at Redding on notice to Conductor to leave passengers from New York only” [MTP].
