Additional Notes: Laid up at Wellington in 1927 and scuttled in Palliser Bay in 1931. MARAROA inaugurated the Union Company trans Pacific service in 1885 and was the first triple expansion powered steamer to enter San Francisco. She was later employed on the trans Tasman, inter-island and the Tasmanian trades before being withdrawn after 42 years of service.
