July 10 Saturday – Sam ordered 100 Cortina Mora R. Chic cigars from James Lidgerwood & Co., fine groceries, New York; bill paid Aug. 11 [MTP].

Editor Note
Registration of Cuban cigar brands started in 1810. From that date, until the nationalization of the tobacco industry in September 1960, thousands of brands were registered.

At the time of nationalization many of these brands were still in production. In February 1962 Cubatabaco took control of the Cuban Cigar Industry, and all but 25 of the remaining brands were discontinued.
