February 6, 1910 Sunday

February 6 Sunday Albert Bigelow Paine wrote from Redding to Clemens:

“Mrs. Paine has found a book of Jacobs’ which seems to fill the bill, and it will go by next steamer. “The Mysterious Stranger” is here in various forms. Part of it seems to have been made in duplicate by Miss Hobby (I judge from the typing) & the opening that goes with this form was typewritten by Jean.” He advised that Harry Lounsbury thought he had a buyer for the “Italian farm,” and had asked Paine to “make a price basis to work on.” He calculated Clemens had paid about $9,000. He also enclosed a letter from Dorothy Quick [MTP].
