Sage (1814-1897), father of Dean Sage, mentioned in Sam’s Autobiography as the head of H.W. Sage & Co., which ran a lumber mill on Saginaw Bay. Sage was “an old and warm friend and former business partner of Mr. Langdon” [MTA 2:137; MTL 4: 474n2].
