On looking at the map, this location seems to actually correspond to Ayassalook, where the Quaker City party got off the train and took donkeys to Ephesus.

Ephesus was one of the great cities of the eastern Mediterranean during Roman times.  It contained the Temple of Diana which was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Frutigen ( 2717' ; *Hôtel Gemmi ; Adler ; Helvetia ; Bellevue ; in all R. 2 , B. 1 1/2 , A. 1/2 fr. ) , a village in a fertile part of the valley , on the Engstligenbach , which falls into the Kander below the village . Galata was a neighbourhood in Constantinople (today's Istanbul), located at the northern shore of the Golden Horn, the inlet which separates it from the historic peninsula of old Constantinople. The Golden Horn is crossed by several bridges, most notably the Galata Bridge. The medieval citadel of Galata was a colony of the Republic of Genoa between 1273 and 1453. The famous Galata Tower was built by the Genoese in 1348 at the northernmost and highest point of the citadel.

Genesee Country, the farthest western region of New York State, comprising the Genesee Valley and westward to the Niagara River, Lake Erie, and the Pennsylvania line. The tract was a 3,250,000 acre portion of the Phelps and Gorham Purchase that lay west of the Genesee River. It was purchased from Robert Morris by the Holland Land Company. One of the provisions of the sale was that Morris needed to settle the Indian title to the land, so he arranged for his son Thomas Morris to negotiate with the Iroquois at Geneseo, New York in 1797.

Gernsbach is a town in the district of Rastatt, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located on the river Murg, 7 km (4.35 mi) east of Baden-Baden in the Black Forest. Twin towns are Baccarat in France and Pergola, Marche in Italy. The town is the historic centre of the lower Murg Valley and forms a central place of mid-size with Gaggenau. It is located in the Region Mittlerer Oberrhein, one of the twelve spatial planning regions of Baden-Württemberg. Gernsbach is an officially recognised climatic spa with a historic centre.

Gisborne (Māori: Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa "Great standing place of Kiwa") is a city in northeastern New Zealand and the largest settlement in the Gisborne District (or Gisborne Region). It has a population of 36,100 (June 2016). The district council has its headquarters in Whataupoko, in the central city.

The settlement was originally known as Turanga and renamed Gisborne in 1870 in honour of New Zealand Colonial Secretary William Gisborne.

The Nakota, Lakota, and Dakota peoples inhabited the Glasgow region until 1888. In 1887 they signed a treaty surrendering 17,500,000 acres. They were relocated tot he Fort Peck Indian Reservation and all tribes removed from the Glasgow area. At one time this area supported huge herds of buffalo and other games, as reported by the Lewis and Clark expedition. The last native American buffalo hunt held here occurred in 1885.

But Hirschhorn is best seen from a distance, down the river. Then the clustered brown towers perched on the green hilltop, and the old battlemented stone wall, stretching up and over the grassy ridge and disappearing in the leafy sea beyond, make a picture whose grace and beauty entirely satisfy the eye.

Jackson is a city in the south central area of the U.S. state of Michigan, about 40 miles (64 km) west of Ann Arbor and 35 miles (56 km) south of Lansing. It is the county seat of Jackson County. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 33,534, down from 36,316 at the 2000 census. Served by Interstate 94, it is the principal city of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Jackson County and has a population of 160,248.
