October 1 Tuesday – Isabel Lyon’s journal: Last night I stayed awake waiting for the King to come home, and full of anxiety until he did.

I am purged of anxieties, purged of discontents and I think it may be in part the exodus of Delia.

Little Ashcroft came out and spent the night; as he arrived Father Fitzsimons arrived too and made arrangements with the King to talk before the villagers on the evening of the 22nd. They had some Scotch and the King told stories of his first meeting with the Prince of Wales and Gen. Grant, and we had a very cosy & gay time [MTP TS 110].

Katherine Gregory, maid, wrote to Miss Lyon about doings at 21 Fifth Ave. [MTP].

Clemens A.D. for this day is listed by MTP.
