December 16 Friday – Richard W. Gilder for Century Magazine wrote to Sam arguing against proposed legislation (the Pearsall Smith matter) he felt would be strongly opposed and unconstitutional [MTP].

Frederick E. Church wrote thanking the Clemenses for visiting “Olana,” his home; he hoped to soon visit them in Hartford. Church mentioned a mutual acquaintance, a Mr. Castor from Mexico, who gave Church an “ancient pipe antedating the Spanish invasion” which he was sending to Sam [MTP].

Hartford Hospital for Ward W. Jacobs wrote to Sam notifying him that Henry C. Robinson had nominated him for and he was unanimously elected as, a member of the corporation [MTP].
