Frances Serrill Knowles wrote from Byrn Mawr, Penn. to offer condolences, fondly recalling the Summer spent with Jean at Gloucester, Mass. “When sailing, she talked for hours to me of her home, and seemed to dwell in the past with the dear Mother of whom she never wearied of telling of her wonderful love and sympathetic nature which had been so much to the dear child,..”’ [MTP].
