John Wallace Crawford wrote from NYC to Sam, opening the letter with a verse which he said “comes right out of my Broncho soul...” He had been “very much hurt when I received a letter from Miss Lyon containing a statement to the effect that you had a contract with your publishers which prevented you from saying a kind word about my Broncho book and my letter to Miss Lyon was pretty warm, I assure you, but when she explained I apologized poetically” Now he was “decidedly anxious” to visit at Stormfield. A story enclosed and mentioned is not in the file [MTP].
