February 7, 1909 Sunday

February 7 Sunday — Clara Clemens and Ossip Gabrilowitsch arrived at Stormfield; at least this date was given in the guestbook. However, on Feb. 8 in a letter to Frances Nunnally, Sam misdated it Feb. 9, which may present confusion. Victor Fischer of the MTP confirms that the Feb. 8 letter was misdated.

G.O. Shields wrote to Sam, enclosing a large advertisement on his lecture “Wild Animals and Snowslides in the Canadian Rockies,” Feb. 6" at 8 p.m. Shields wrote on letterhead of A. Huffaker, M.D., Carson City, Nevada. “It may interest you to know that I am writing this in the room in which you had your office when you lived in this historic city. / Dr. Huffaker owns the house now and it is one of the noted landmarks of the town” [MTP).
