October 26, 1909 Tuesday

October 26 Tuesday — In Redding, Conn. Sam wrote to Thomas Power O’Connor now at the Hoffman House N. Y.C.

My Dear Mr. Q’Connor, / I am living here at Redding, sixty miles from New York, easy of access, though prohibited by my physician from getting away. Can’t you run up and let me have a look at you? There is a train from the Lexington Avenue station at 8.50 in the morning, and one at 3.32 in the afternoon. These are express trains, and come through without change. Any time will suit me. Pick your own day and train, and let me know, and I will send for you to the station. Telegrams are delivered here, and you can also reach me by telephone, No. “774, Danbury, Conn.” Won’t you come?/ Very truly yours, / ... [MTP].

C.G. Child for the Victor Talking-Machine Co., Camden, N.J. wrote to Sam, offering $1,000 for Sam to make records of “a few of your famous stories” [MTP].
