Theodosius Botkin wrote from the US Consulate, Port Louis, Mauritius, to relay a humorous story about one M. Perrement who suffered as a stutterer. Perrement had waited on Sam when he was in Port Louis on his world tour. Perrement “called on the Curepipe drugstore one day and tried to ask for some Ipecac. He addressed the lady clerk—‘D-d-d-d-d-donnez moi de h-h- h-hip-hip-hip——’ and just then the English clerk yelled ‘Hurray!’” [MTP].

Roi Cooper Megrue for Elisabeth Marbury wrote to Sam enclosing two copies of one contract and another to be signed by Sam for the production of “How I Became Editor” [MTP].
