December 23 Wednesday – In Redding, Conn. Sam replied to the Dec. 10 of L.M. Powers. “Published without my consent; & promptly suppressed. SLC /Don’t know where to find this one. It was a political brochure” [MTP].

Isabel Lyon’s journal: Benar came back to help with the Christmasing. Gabrilowitsch left to return tomorrow evening with C.C.

Benar & I had a sweet evening with the King playing hearts, & after we had a talk in my room which is all littered up in the corners with Christmas piles [MTP: IVL TS 85].

Allan R. Campbell for Hyman & Campbell, attorneys, NYC wrote to Sam about one Dr. Robert J. Kahn. Campbell was under the illusion that Kahn held a lease on Sam’s house [MTP]. Note: IVL: “Ansd”

Ten or fifteen years ago at “The Players” I used to have the pleasure of playing a game of pool with you very often and if luck was my way ‘sticking’ you for the “Hot scotch” I have some old vouchers to prove it—these with a letter that you wrote dear old John Malone…I have framed it.  But I want a copy of “Joan ‘d Arc” with the authors name in it, so I send you the book and hope you will not think me “cheeky” in asking the favor of your autograph… [MTP]. Note: “Ans Jan 19 MLH”
