C.A. Speakman for American Lithograph Co., NYC wrote to ask Sam if they might use his portrait entitled “contentment” on p. 953 in May’s Harper’s Magazine, “because it would make an unusually good cigar label” [MTP]. Note: “Ans’d May 18, 09”
