August 31 Monday – Isabel Lyon’s journal: “John and Isabel Wayland came today” [MTP: IVL TS 62].

James Ross Clemens wrote to Sam, having arrived in South Dartmouth, Mass. and finding Sam’s invitation for him and his wife to visit Stormfield. Unfortunately only he could come and wanted to look in the following Sunday. He would stay overnight [MTP].

Mary B. Hackett wrote from Morristown, NJ to relate what she’d heard in a department store during the Christmas holiday two years before. A woman patron asked for “Eve’s Diary” and was told it must be in the religious section [MTP].

Clemens acquired two more cases of Queen Anne whisky and wrote “2 cases used in August” [L-A MS]. Note: see June 8, 1907 for the full list of acquisition dates of whisky , intended as ammunition against Isabel Lyon.
