Sam wrote to the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad asking that trains #239 and 240 out of NYC stop at Redding. Sam’s letter is not extant but referred to in the Railroad’s reply of Nov. 23.

John Wallace Crawford (Capt. “Jack”) wrote from Fairbury, Nebr. to invite Sam for a visit [MTP]. Note: IVL: “Thanks for invitation, but has settled in the country not to make any journeys that are not compulsory”

Janice W. Day wrote from NYC to enclose tickets for Sam to the Children’s Educational Theatre’s performance of The Little Princess, Monday, Dec. 28 at 2:30 at the New German Theatre [MTP]. Note: IVL: “An engagement at home”

Howells & Stokes wrote to enclose a bill from Russell & Erwin Mfg. “for $31.36, which they have duly receipted” [MTP].
