September 10 Tuesday – Isabel Lyon’s journal: “No. C.S. advertisements” [MTP TS 102].

Kate B. Lee wrote to ask Sam to write a piece on seasickness, as she suffered from it for two whole days and couldn’t explain it to friends [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Answd. Sept. 16, ‘07”

Hugh Gordon Miller for Jamestown Exposition wrote to Sam with plans and program for the Sept. 23 ceremonies, where Sam had agreed to speak [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote for Sam on another slip dated Sept. 16, ’07: “Write to Miller: Consound—I must be speaker No 3 at the banquet—then I can always say privately to speaker No 2, would you mind changing places with me?”

Lucia Shepardson wrote from Pacific Grove, Calif. to ask Sam if the Sheppherdson of the Grangerford feud in HF was taken from her relative Elija Shepardson [MTP].

Margaret H. Steen wrote to ask Sam if there was a chance he might give a lecture for the Alpha and Phi Kappa Societies of Smith College [MTP]. Note: Lyon wrote on the letter, “Answd. Sept. 16, ‘07”
